Who Controls AI? Anthropic Suspension Sparks Ownership Debate

In June, the AI Lab Anthropic suspended access to its latest Claude models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5 in response to an ‘export control directive from the US government. 

The directive suspended access to the program by any foreign national, whether inside or outside of the United States.

With AI becoming more embedded in almost every platform, it raises the questions of public versus private ownership of AI and who should have control of it.
